Our Story
In November 1998, Geoffrey Watson and Darryl Baird developed an idea that was to become Razor, the electronic intelligence system for winding semi-trailer landing legs. This concept spawned the introduction of tarp systems to expand the range of products that Razor has to offer, for small-to-large companies around the globe.
Today, Razor International presents a state-of-the-art suite of electronic products and is in the field every day making life safer and easier for transport fleets and private operators alike. Razor customers benefit from excellent customer service, reliable products and safer everyday work practices.

What our users say
Razor stood out because of their reliability and the positive response we’ve had from acquaintances within the industry.
It’s not a massive difference from doing it manually time-wise, however, when you do it manually there is no margin for error,” + “If you make a slight mistake such as incorrectly bend a section of the tarp, the process could take up to 30 minutes to recover and re-do the whole process.
The drivers are very happy with the ease of how the tarp roll back and forth, and the amount of time it reduces when securing our load.
We’re also very impressed with the strength of the material which we believe will enhance durability in the long run and just the overall look of how its fitted on the tipper. From a safety perspective, drivers won’t be ripping their shoulders out or tweaking their backs just to tighten the tarp.
We have been in partnership with Razor for about 10 years, and in that time we have been using front-to-back tarps for our quarry products and Razor-driven landing legs as well.
And in the bulk, grain and woodchip part of the business, which makes up a third of our production, we generally use Razor’s rollover tarp.
It’s the tidiness and quality of the equipment that has always attracted us to purchasing Razor products.
From an OH&S point of view, there’s no change on their motorised equipment. It’s all covered in, guarded and easy to retrofit.
The most pleasing aspect about a Razor rollover tarp is that the drivers don’t have to exit the vehicle to crank handles or pull the tarp back and forth anymore. That is a significant factor as far as safety is concerned because you reduce the chances of an operator injuring himself.
On top of that, when you have a rollover tarp that is powered electrically, you’ll generally find the system for the tarps is much tighter, rather than a manually-fastened one that is prone to flapping around while on the road.
But, the great thing about the power tarp is definitely the control option. Razor gives its clients the option of either installing a hardwire or remote controlled panels.
We were so impressed with the quality and reliability of the brand, it convinced us to try the rollover tarp as well when we specked the 25-metre B-double tipper.
Compared to handling a tarp manually, we’ve found that electrically operated tarps can prevent a lot of potential OH&S issues when opening and securing the load.
All our drivers need to do is hop out of the vehicle, press a button to unload or secure, and that’s that. They don’t even need to do that anymore as it’s all in cab wireless remote.
We share a long-standing relationship with our suppliers, in particular Razor. They not only develop the product in-house in Australia, but also help us make light work of a tough task and stay completely hazard free.
Their backup service is terrific too. I guess the great thing is we haven’t had to utilize that a lot, but when we have had to call on Razor, then they’ll send someone out straight away to resolve the issue.
The Razor when compared to the installation of other models now lets you start the motor, equip the battery and, by plugging in two wires, you’re essentially ready to go.
The updated Razor system is pretty much bulletproof.
Razor has been there for us any time we’ve needed them.
The Razor Delta is light in construction and comes with an inbuilt control on the motor. It is designed to streamline the process of loading and unloading through automation, saving fleet operator’s time between freight tasks
